THE CDLE BRIEF measures readership without advertising trackers and collects personal information only when a reader chooses to identify a reaction, submit a comment, or subscribe.

THE CDLE BRIEF, directed by Camilo Enrique Cortés De La Espriella in Barranquilla, Colombia, is responsible for the personal data voluntarily supplied through this publication.

The reader system may record a name supplied with a “like,” a name and text submitted as a comment, an email address supplied for publication updates, the article language, consent date, and a random first-party browser identifier. It does not store raw IP addresses in audience or comment records and does not create advertising profiles.

Names attached to reactions and subscriber email addresses remain visible only in the private Editorial Desk. A submitted comment remains private while pending; if the editor approves it, its text and supplied name become public on the article. They are not sold or used for unrelated advertising.

Purposes, infrastructure, and authorization

What the information is used for.

Aggregate visit and reaction data are used to understand which reporting reaches readers and to improve editorial decisions. A reaction name is used only in the private audience record. A comment name identifies the public contribution after editorial approval. An email address is used only to send new-publication notices in the language selected by the reader.

Providing a reaction, comment, or email is voluntary. Subscription requires separate, express authorization. A reader may request access, correction, updating, or deletion by using the unsubscribe link in an email or writing to camilo@thecdlebrief.com.

The publication uses WordPress and its hosting infrastructure to deliver and protect the site. Those technical providers may process ordinary security and server logs under their own retention and security controls. THE CDLE BRIEF does not use the reader system to build advertising profiles.

The legal framework includes Colombia’s Law 1581 of 2012 and its applicable regulations. Information is retained only while required for the stated purpose, legal compliance, security, or the resolution of a legitimate request.

First-party measurement

A random identifier stored in the reader’s browser controls repeat visits and duplicate support for comments. It is pseudonymous, contains no name or email, and is not shared for advertising.

Editorial moderation

Comments are not published automatically. The editor may approve, feature, or hide them to protect the quality and integrity of the public conversation.
